To follow this pattern...

Skill level:

crochet beginners can follow this pattern!

Materials:

To follow this Pattern, you will need two yarn (colour A & colour B). You want to use either the same yarn in two different colours, or two different yarn, in different colours, in similar weight. I recommend sport weight yarn or fingering weight yarn.

I use here...

Yarn: Safran by Drops (50 g ~ 165 m) in blue and white, 15 grams in total

Hook: 3.5 mm

Stitches and abbreviations (US terminology):

Final Sizing:
Before sewing, the piece is 18 cm long, 7 cm wide Pattern:

To crochet this scrunchie, we use the Cobbles & Vines stitch pattern, for which you find a tutorial here: Cobbles & Vines Stitch pattern tutorial

In Colour A:

Ch 15

Row 1: sc in the second ch from hook. sc in each ch. tc. [14]

In Colour B:

Row 2: sc until the end of the row. tc. [14]

Row 3: sc until the end of the row. tc. [14]

In Colour A:

Row 4: *sc in the first two sts, fpdc in the next st three rows below*. Repeat until you have 2 sts left. Place a sc in each. tc. [14]

Row 5: sc until the end of the row. tc. [14]

With row 5, the first set of squares ends. Repeat for another 9 sets of squares, so 10 set of squares in total.

Fasten off.

Assembly:

Step 1: sew the ends of the fabric (so the two short ends together).

Now we have a ring!

Step 2: now turn the fabric so that you can see the wrong side (the side without the square features), and wrap the elastic band around it

Step 3: Now the tricky part: we need to align the two long sides of the fabric and sew them together (or stitch around) with the elastic band in the middle. Stitch markers really help!

After sewing/stitch all around the fabric, weave in your ends (or hide them inside!) and enjoy your Scrunchie!
