Cobbles & Vines - Wall hangings

I'm obsessed with the Cobbles&Vines custom stitch and I played around to come up with many accessories (and even garments!) that uses it!

You can find a full tutorial explaining this stitch here: Cobbles & Vines stitch tutorial

This stitch has many pros: it's sturdy, easy and fast to make, and it looks gorgeous and intricate, without being difficult!

One of the accessories I designed that uses this stitch, its a wall hanging that I use to store my earrings and pins!

Here, I'll go through how to create the small version of this design:

Earrings Hanging - small version of the Cobbles & Vines wall hangings

To follow this pattern...

Skill level:

crochet beginners can follow this pattern!

Materials:

To follow this Pattern, you will need two yarn (colour A & colour B). You want to use either the same yarn in two different colours, or two different yarn, in different colours, in similar weight.

I use here...

Yarn: DK yarn in my stash (50 g ~ 165 m) in blue and sage green

Hook: 4.5 mm (or the hook recommended on the yarn label).

Stitches and abbreviations (US terminology):

  • chain - ch
  • single crochet - sc
  • front post double crochet - fpdc

Gauge:

4.5 mm hook

10 cm x 10 cm = 15 sts x 4 set of squares (that is, 16 rows in pattern)

Pattern:

Ch 9

Repeat Row 2 to Row 5 in Full tutorial & Video tutorial for the gauge swatch to obtain a total of 3 set of squares

Mount the Dowel:

4.5 mm

Any Colour

You now have the yarn in the top corner of the fabric.

Grab your dowel, check if the dimensions are correct. Now, start using sc stitches to mount the dowel. Place the dowel between the fabric and the yarn you are using.

For every stitch at the top of the fabric, place a sc stitch in the following way:

Insert the hook in the stitch, yarn over from behind the dowel, pull through the loops

- the sc st is on top of the dowel. Repeat until the end.

Here a video tutorial:

Don’t fasten off. We now chain to create the cord. I like chain 50 to have a 20 cm between the nail

and the little hanger.
